Eligibility

This training is open to all healthcare professionals, including chiropractors.

Description / Training details

This training offers a tailored clinical approach to post-operative rehabilitation of the knee and hip by promoting the optimization and use of all the knowledge of the physiotherapist and physical rehabilitation therapist. It draws its sources from the most recent data.

Following this training, you will be able to:

  • Briefly describe the anatomy and biomechanics of the hip and knee.

  • Differentiate the concepts of arthritis, osteoarthritis and inflammatory arthritis, as well as their clinical implications in post-arthroplasty rehabilitation.

  • Have a general understanding of the different types of prostheses for the knee and hip.

  • Recognize the mechanical and biomechanical implications of the most common surgical approaches..

  • Adapt your intervention plan according to the surgical approach used, taking into consideration contraindications/precautions (CIP), biomechanics, tissue healing phases, associated conditions, etc.

  • Better understand the medication (analgesics, anticoagulants, etc.) used during post-arthroplasty follow-ups and their implications.

  • Recognize an "abnormal" evolution of healing and thus be able to adequately refer these particular cases to a fellow physiotherapist or an orthopedist.
